The artist KUB Founder of ALQUARISM STUDIO
ALQUARISM Studio is a creative branch stemming from the artistic movement ALQUARISM founded by the visual artist KUB. The studio is dedicated to the graphic creation of posters inspired by directional signs, indicating the distance between various places in the world and the Kaaba, which is not only a sacred place for KUB but also symbolizes a common center and reference point around which human beings can orient themselves.
Through these powerful visual compositions, ALQUARISM Studio offers both a visual and reflective experience, where emotional geography becomes a language and art becomes a tool for understanding and contemplating the world.
By combining minimalism and symbolism, the studio highlights a unique vision where art bridges personal experience, the memory of places, and a quest for universal meaning. Each poster thus becomes an invitation to rethink the relationship between the individual, the world, and its Creator.
My inspiration
Alquarism Studio was born from an experience in the desert of Wadi Rum in Jordan, a few kilometers from the Saudi Arabian border. Alongside my friend and Bedouin guide, Salem, every step of this journey was punctuated by prayer; five times a day, we sought the Qibla: the direction of the Kaaba.
In this mineral and silent space, near the sacred peninsula, the orientation towards the Kaaba took on a particular intensity. Sitting on the sand, we spoke of this proximity that almost gave us the impression of perceiving its scent and feeling its presence.
From this came an obvious realization: from the direction, also measure the distance. This is how the idea of directional panels came to me, capable of indicating both the heading and the kilometers separating us from the Kaaba. For to pray towards it, even in the heart of the desert, is already to be there in spirit, as if transported by intention. From this experience was born ALQUARISM Studio, where each poster bears its imprint: a visual and spiritual landmark that connects every place in the world to the center of Mecca.
